Mahrla Manning is a 1984 Bel Air graduate and a 1989 UTEP graduate with an Electrical Engineering Degree. She worked at White Sands Missile Range from 1989-1993 and was the Pipe Band Director from 1999-2001. She has been a consultant for the Bel Air Bagpipe Band for over 20 years and currently teaches music at St. Clement's Parish School. In addition, she has her own Pipe Band that performs locally and regionally. She has given so much of herself in preserving the most important tradition of Bel Air High School, our Pipe Band. She may not be part of the Big Red faculty but she is here on her time. She played a key role in supporting, establishing, and ensuring the success of the first Celebration of Bagpipes event along with the second annual event in 2024. She continues to show her endless support to the Bel Air Pipe band, and continues to present herself in ongoing events, eventually establishing the first Bagpipe band student scholarship under the John Estes Scholarship Fund established in 2024.
